A New Season, A New Era & A Time To Re-Connect
Cambuslang Rangers FC are about to embark on a venture in uncharted territory for the club as we prepare to kick off our inaugural campaign as a West Of Scotland Football League club tomorrow when we take on St Cadoc's at Somervell Park.
Having joined the new set-up last year, the club are yet to play a competitive fixture as a result of our voluntary one season withdrawal from the competition prior to the, later declared “null and void”, 2020/21 season starting. Part of our reasoning behind the withdrawal was you, the fans and we can't wait to welcome you back to Somervell Park tomorrow.
With lockdowns, self isolations, social distancing, face coverings, vaccinations and a severe lack of toilet roll in the shops it has been a difficult time for everyone but hopefully as we head back towards normality we can put all of that behind us (even the toilet roll).
We can now return to the football and as we let out a sigh of relief with that news we just ask you to respect the restrictions which are still in place for a while longer until we have overcome what is hopefully the final hurdle of this pandemic.
It has been a long 16 months since our last competitive fixture and there have been various changes to the stadium, the team and the club as a whole during that time. Undoubtedly, you will have noticed some of those recent changes as we have begun to share them across our official channels.
The beating heart of our community is you and without that heart what is our football club? It is, for this reason that as we open the gates tomorrow afternoon we want to make sure that you are made to feel welcome, whether it's for the first time or the umpteenth time - because as you join us inside Somervell that's where our club thrives.
So tomorrow it's about us - our club & our community. Let’s show everyone in this new league what Cambuslang is all about - Unity, Passion and Heart. If you're a Somervell Boy - let everyone hear you! If you're a seasoned supporter - enjoy re-connecting with old friends! If you’re coming for the first time - Welcome! If you’re with us week in, week out - It’s time to get back into the action!
With all of us back, from players to coaching staff to committee to supporters, we finally have back what has been missed for so long and that will never be taken for granted by anyone at the club. Because of you the heart of the club shall beat again and stronger than ever.
