SOMERVELL PARK

Having previously played at Mains Park (formerly Bogshole Park) and Westburn Park after Cambuslang Hibernian joined in merging with Cambuslang Rangers, the club looked to establish their own home. In 1903 a location was found for the new ground to be built. The space would neighbour Hoover and would draw crowds of thousands as employees would descend to the ground which would be named Somervell Park every second Saturday. The ground would be officially opened in 1904 and has remained the home of Cambuslang ever since.

REDEVELOPMENTS

The ground has seen various forms of redevelopment over the years but most notably has come ahead of the recent 2020/21 season. With new neighbours, Legends Bar Diner taking over the building formerly occupied by Sweepers Bar, substantial redevelopment work has been ongoing.

The recent installation of a beer garden overlooking the Somervell pitch as well as the removal of the wall situating the former turnstiles has changed much of the appearance ground somewhat into a more modern looking stadium.
